About The Wallace Foundation

Wallace Foundation

The Wallace Foundation is a legacy of DeWitt and Lila Acheson Wallace, founders of The Reader’s Digest Association. The Foundation’s mission is to enable institutions to expand learning and enrichment opportunities for all people. The Foundation does this by supporting and sharing effective ideas and practices. In addition to grant-making, the Foundation extends its influence beyond its direct grantees through an integrated, team-based approach involving research and communications. To achieve its mission, the Foundation has three objectives: strengthening education leadership to enhance student achievement; improving after-school learning opportunities; and expanding participation in arts and culture. In addition to Project My Time, The Wallace Foundation also is funding out-of-school-time initiatives in Boston, Chicago, Providence, and New York. The out-of-school-time initiative aims to develop comprehensive systems for out-of-school learning with consistently high standards.
